Der Katalog erscheint anlässlich von Sun Yitians dritter Einzelausstellung bei Esther Schipper in Berlin im Mai 2025. In den vergangenen Jahren hat die Künstlerin internationale Aufmerksamkeit erlangt. Bekannt ist sie für ihre farbintensiven Acrylbilder massenproduzierter Objekte, die meist nach eigens inszenierten Fotografien entstanden. Leuchtend gemalt, wirken aufblasbare Spielzeuge oder Puppenköpfe zunächst hyperreal, lösen sich bei näherem Hinsehen jedoch in malerische Abstraktion auf. So thematisiert Sun Yitian die Spannung zwischen Banalität und Pathos, Konsumkultur und individueller Ausdruckskraft. Der Band bietet einen umfassenden Einblick in ihr Schaffen und enthält neben zahlreichen Abbildungen ein Gespräch der Künstlerin mit Udo Kittelmann sowie einen Essay von Chus Martínez.Sun Yitian (*1991 Zhejiang) lebt und arbeitet in Peking. Sie studierte an der Central Academy of Fine Arts und promoviert derzeit an der Tsinghua University. Ihre Werke waren u.a. im Yuz Museum Shanghai, UCCA Edge und bei Esther Schipper Berlin zu sehen.

Treasure!! The best!!
I had been using Avene Compensating cream for years before it was reformulated and renamed as “Revitalizing” in (as I remember) 2020. At the time, every single comment I saw complained about its pilling and its getting worse after reformulation. Every single comment wished for the old formulation back. Because Avene Compensating was PERFECT for me, I got very anxious after reading the comments and decided not to purchase the new Revitalizing cream. I jumped around from products to products for the last 2 years (from expensive La Mer cream, Cle de peau La Creme, Lancome soft cream, Amorepacific Time Response to less expensive Clarins Hydra, Embryolisse). Nothing beat Avene Compensating cream. Nothing came close to Avene Compensating cream in terms of giving my easily irritated skin that clear, well moisturized, trouble-free, healthful look. Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving 2022 after I got back from a Las Vegas trip with terribly dry and dehydrated reddish skin that nothing helped (and I always use sheet masks daily), I decided to give Avene Revitalizing a try. Worst case scenario, I would waste my $40 that I, very likely, would otherwise waste on another non Avene moisturizer. I’m so grateful I gave it a try. I don’t know if Avene listened to its loyal customers and brought the old formulation back, or if they improved the new formulation that pilled, but the Avene Revitalizing cream (I tried both rich and regular versions) did not pill at all for me and as far as I can still remember, Avene Compensating cream felt the same to me. After 2 nights of Avene Revitalizing, my skin is pretty much back to normal now. I think this is the old formulation but I can’t say for sure because it was more than 2 years ago when I last used the cream, but no matter what, if it keeps being what it is now, I will be a customer for life. Please Avene. Don’t change formulation again.
