Reproduction of Riverbank I by Albena Hristova
Albena Hristova — "Riverbank I" is a compelling example of contemporary abstract landscape art that synthesizes the principles of minimalism with a deep reverence for natural forms. The work aligns with the broader tradition of landscape abstraction, where the artist distills the essence of a place rather than rendering its literal appearance. Hristova’s technique, characterized by fluid washes and controlled marks, demonstrates a mastery of materiality, with the interplay of ink and pigment creating a tactile, almost geological surface. The composition, though asymmetrical, achieves a harmonious balance through the strategic placement of darker, more saturated forms against expansive areas of light, creating a visual rhythm that mimics the ebb and flow of water. The color palette, dominated by earthy neutrals, evokes a sense of timelessness and invites contemplation, aligning the piece with the aesthetic of 'wabi-sabi'—finding beauty in imperfection and transience. The work’s significance lies in its ability to evoke a profound emotional response through minimal means, transforming the abstract representation of a riverbank into a meditative experience that speaks to the enduring relationship between humanity and the natural world. This piece is not merely a depiction of a landscape but a philosophical meditation on place, memory, and the quiet beauty of the natural environment. For more art by Albena Hristova click here.

Great Book.
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Its great to be able to go back and read Stokely Carmichael today in his own words. This book provides an excellent overview of what black power means and how the concept originated. Although the book seems a bit dated today, many of the ideas presented are still entirely relevant.
Ive only given the book four stars due to its age. Many of the statistics presented are dated, and undoubtedly there are other texts available today that present these ideas in a much better/newer way. But if you are interested in Stokely Carmichael and what he stood for, this is the book to read.

Format: Paperback
Excellent articulation of the Black Power initiative within the Civil Rights Movement. A detailed view of Black Power, it's objectives, how these would be achieved, as well as it's misinterpretations.
An afterword from each author appended in 1992 provides insight, reflection, and perspective on all that's changed, and what hasn't, since the book's publishing.

Get one while you can
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Any book with the name Stokely Carmichael is a rare find. You can easily find the same book with Kwame Ture as the author since he changed his name and so later editions reflects the name change. Kwame Ture (fka Stokely Carmichael) changed his name for a reason. However, those of us from the sixties can never forget him nor the name Stokely Carmichael.
