LGBTQIA+ Support in Community ServicesCOURSE OVERVIEW: Welcome to the LGBTQIA+ Support in Community Services course. This program will equip you with the foundational knowledge, cultural awareness, and practical skills required to work respectfully, safely, and effectively with LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities across diverse service settings. You will explore identities, terminology, rights, health considerations, inclusive practice frameworks, and the essential role of community

COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the LGBTQIA+ Support in Community Services course. This program will equip you with the foundational knowledge, cultural awareness, and practical skills required to work respectfully, safely, and effectively with LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities across diverse service settings. You will explore identities, terminology, rights, health considerations, inclusive practice frameworks, and the essential role of community services in reducing discrimination, strengthening wellbeing, and promoting equality. This course also examines the historical, social, legal, and cultural systems that shape the lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ people and the responsibilities of practitioners in fostering inclusion and safety.

This course begins with an introduction to LGBTQIA+ identities, key terminology, and the diversity that exists within LGBTQIA+ communities. You will explore the historical context and major milestones that shaped LGBTQIA+ rights, including shifts in legislation, court decisions, public policy, and social movements. This section also examines current laws and policies in Australia that protect LGBTQIA+ individuals, and explores the impact of social attitudes, stigma, and discrimination on their wellbeing and access to services. You will also consider the role of advocacy, activism, and community-led movements in advancing equality and challenging harmful narratives.

The next part of the course focuses on intersectionality and diversity. You will explore how multiple identities—such as race, disability, culture, religion, gender, and socioeconomic background—interact within LGBTQIA+ communities, shaping experiences of privilege and marginalisation. This section examines the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals with multiple marginalised identities and highlights the need for culturally informed, trauma-aware, and rights-based service provision.

A further emphasis is placed on the health and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people. You will explore physical and mental health disparities, barriers to accessing inclusive Australian healthcare, and common stressors that impact wellbeing. This section examines mental health challenges, the importance of affirming support, and the need for practitioners to collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe, equitable, and culturally competent services.

A dedicated section focuses on supporting LGBTQIA+ youth, including the unique challenges they face at home, school, and in communities. You will explore how to create safe spaces, build supportive networks, strengthen resilience, and promote mental health. This section also explains how to develop practitioner cultural competence through sensitivity training, inclusive language, and conscious efforts to address personal biases and assumptions when providing care or support.

You will then explore LGBTQIA+ families, relationships, and gender identity. This includes understanding the needs of LGBTQIA+ couples, supporting chosen families, and considering parenting and adoption pathways. You will learn how to support transgender and non-binary individuals during their gender affirmation process, including access to healthcare, social support, and legal pathways. This section also examines how services can support individuals exploring their sexual orientation or identity, provide resources for questioning clients, and assist in addressing internalised stigma and shame.

The course also introduces LGBTQIA+ community resources, organisations, helplines, crisis services, and legal, housing, and employment supports. You will explore ways to create inclusive environments in education and workplaces, including the role of anti-bullying policies, diversity training, representation, and organisational inclusion strategies. This section examines LGBTQIA+ inclusion within religious and cultural contexts, exploring how individuals navigate identity within these settings and how bridges can be built between LGBTQIA+ communities and religious or cultural institutions to create safe, affirming spaces.

The final section focuses on mental health support, crisis intervention, and legal protections. You will explore LGBTQIA+-affirming counselling and therapy, suicide prevention supports, and trauma-informed care strategies that promote healing and resilience. This section also examines legal protections for LGBTQIA+ individuals, advocacy strategies, accessing legal assistance, and the role of allies in fostering safe, equitable, and inclusive communities through meaningful and active allyship.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand the diversity of LGBTQIA+ identities, recognise the legal and ethical responsibilities of service providers, apply culturally competent and trauma-informed practice, support LGBTQIA+ youth and families, access community resources appropriately, and contribute to inclusive environments that uphold dignity, safety, and human rights for all LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Bacon? IDK but good stuff either way
Color: C) 4" 2-Pack (Bacon)
What is there to say? they're giant 4" rubber balls from the Chew King brand which is very durable brand. The best part is they don't roll under couches, side boards, etc cause they're just big enough.

Tough Dog Balls. Bright Orange/holes for treats
Color: B) 3" 2-Pack (Bacon)
I used to buy Starmark. But their balls got smaller and tore more easily. The color was green. I couldn’t find it when it was dropped in the grass!! Soooooo, I took a chance on this cuz it had holes in it and was bright orange. It is not scented at all or its bacon scent faded. The ball is for strong chewers. I’m a petsitter and I needed tough balls for my clients dog. Shipped quickly. Good price. Exactly as described
