Lensa Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 yang terpasang pada kamera ini mampu menghasilkan gambar yang sangat detail. Selain itu, RX1R II memiliki fitur unik pertama di dunia yaitu variable optical low-pass filter system yang dapat mengatur tegangan pada lapisan kristal cair untuk mengatur sifat pemisahan cahaya dari array. Fitur ini memungkinkan pengguna untuk memprioritaskan detail, menghilangkan moire dan aliasing, atau mencapai keseimbangan antara keduanya.Terdapat 399 titik AF phase-detect pada sensor dalam sistem Fast Hybrid AF yang dapat mengunci dan melacak subjek dengan cepat. Pengaturan ini juga dapat digunakan pada mode pemotretan terus-menerus hingga maksimum 5 fps untuk mengambil gambar aksi yang cepat. Selain itu, pemrosesan dan kecepatan yang ditingkatkan dari sensor dan prosesor RX1R II memungkinkan pengambilan gambar pada sensitivitas yang lebih luas mulai dari ISO 50.
