Authentic urushi lacquer, with a sheen and depth that no synthetic can equal, is hand gathered and blended, like wine, by their master lacquerers. Using an age-old technique called Popot, the urushi lacquer is then hand-applied over a solid brass body, distributed evenly to ensure a silk-like feel and a high resistance to scratches and heat. Each pen is then engraved with a tree leaf symbol to display that the urushi lacquer is authentic. The urushi lacquer is offset by gold vermeil trims.

The Line D is S.T. Dupont's classic line of fine writing instruments with 145 years of history. The collection was recently updated with the S.T. Dupont "blazon" signature embellished on the new articulated clip and the signature D in cursive script atop the pen cap. Made in Faverges in the southeast of France, every Line D is crafted from brass and coated with natural urushi lacquer. Every Line D pen has an ideal balance and weight based on the geometries of divine proportion.
