The acclaimed graphic novelist Jason returns with his most eagerly awaited book yet, thanks to the inclusion of the title story, the world's first (and likely last) chess western. Originally serialized in 2008 to a huge (and hugely delighted) audience in the New York Times Sunday Magazine 'Funny Pages' section, 'Low Moon' made Jason's 2008 appearance at the MoCCA Arts Festival in Manhattan the talk of the prestigious show, catapulting the Norwegian star to an even new level of mass appeal. This 216-page hardcover book features five yarns - all brand new with the exception of the aforementioned 'Low Moon,' which is collected into book form for the first time. The new stories lead off with 'Emily Says Hello,' a typically deadpan Jason tale of murder, revenge and sexual domination. Then, the wordless '&' tells two tales at once: one about a skinny guy trying to steal enough money to save his ill mother, and the other about a fat guy murderously trying to woo his true love. The reason we follow these two parallel stories becomes obvious only on the very last page, in Jason's inimitable genre-mashing style. 'Early Film Noir' can best be described as The Postman Always Rings Twice meets Groundhog Day. But starring cavemen. And finally, 'You Are Here' features alien kidnappings, space travel, and the pain and confusion of family ties, culminating in an enigmatic finale that rivals Jason's greatest twists. Funny, poignant, and wry, Low Moon shows one of the world's most acclaimed graphic novelists at the absolute peak of his powers.Shipping Notes

Format: Board book
What a sweet story! Both my 20 month old and my 3.5 year old love this book. Now whenever they see a banana they say “silly banana” or “sweet banana”! It is a favorite in our house!!

Cute Concept but a Little Abstract for Younger Kids
Format: Board book
The illustrations are bright and friendly and the board book format is sturdy, so it holds up well with little hands flipping pages a bit aggressively. The rhyming flows okay, not perfect poetry but not awkward either. That said, the concept might be a little abstract for very young kids depending on their age. Mine liked the pictures but didn’t fully connect the idea without explanation, so it ended up being more of a guided read than an independent “get it right away” story. It feels like a good conversation starter book rather than a quick bedtime read you can breeze through half asleep. Still cute, just something to be aware of depending on your kid.

A Book That Made the Moon Extra Special
Format: Board book, Format: Board book
This book has quickly become a favorite in our home. Our daughter absolutely loves the playful idea of the moon looking like a banana, and how many bananas come together to make a full moon. Since reading it, she gets so excited pointing out both bananas and the moon, and it’s been amazing to see her make that connection. It’s her first choice every morning and every evening at story time. The concept is simple, imaginative, and perfectly suited for young children. It’s become a cherished part of our daily routine, and we highly recommend it.

My daughter understood the phases of the moon so much better after reading this story. My ABA students also really enjoyed it — it’s simple, unique, and wonderfully engaging all at once. The book is beautifully written, nicely illustrated, and truly touched my heart. I highly recommend it to parents and teachers alike! 🌙💫
