This Leaf D Guard Bowie is forged from 80CrV2 with a forged finish on the face of the blade near the spine. It features a classic Bowie shape with a high polished cutting bevel. The handle has been constructed with a combination of brass collars before and aft of the main guard. The main guard is forged from mild steel with leaves forged into the top and bottom of the guard.
The wood on the handle is spalted hackberry that has been dyed green and stabilized and then shaped and sculpted to fit the users hand comfortably. The pommel of the handle is the second half of the D guard that has been also been forged from mild steel with a leaf forged in the bottom of it with a brass ferrule and a lanyard finial. The blade is 80CrV2. Hidden tang. 5/16 inch thick spine, 10 5/8 inch blade, 16 1/2 inches overall. Forged.
This Leaf D Guard Bowie is complimented with a hand crafted sheath by Cody Carr from Clarksville AR, and features a hand tooled pattern of leaves.
About the Maker: Jesse Losey is a blacksmith and owner of Jesse Losey Blacksmithing in Clarksville, Arkansas. For the past 5 years he has been a hobby Bladesmith with his current knife builds outpacing his blacksmithing production. Jesse is an Apprentice Smith in the American Bladesmith Society.
