Fun Fact: Anubias Congensis is native to the Congo region of Central Africa and is appreciated for its sleek, lance-shaped leaves that grow upright in a graceful arch, giving the plant a structured and elegant look in aquascapes.
Appearance: This species features long, narrow, dark green leaves that grow in a vertical fashion from a thick rhizome. The leaf texture is smooth and leathery, making it both visually appealing and durable in aquariums.
Habitat: Naturally found in shaded, slow-moving rivers and streams of Central Africa, often growing partially submerged along the banks.
Aquarium Use: Anubias Congensis is commonly used as a midground or background plant in freshwater aquariums. Its upright growth makes it perfect for adding height and contrast when attached to wood or stone.
Care: This plant is hardy and suitable for beginners. It thrives in low-tech setups and does not require nutrient-rich substrate or CO2. Avoid burying the rhizome to prevent rot. It grows slowly and is tolerant of a wide range of water conditions.
Propagation: Easily propagated by dividing the rhizome. Each section should include at least a few healthy leaves and roots to ensure successful regrowth.
Note: Like other Anubias species, Congensis is resistant to most herbivorous fish and rarely experiences algae issues unless kept under strong light. Its striking form and durability make it a great choice for natural-style aquascapes.
