Welcome to Practical Wisdom for Everyday Living!

It has been a joy to study the book of James myself and then to teach this wonderful work to other believers. My aim has been to make this study something very practical and applicable to one’s everyday life. After all, it is James who says, “Be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only.”

It is my hope that each learner will take to heart the wonder of being able to hear from one who was so close to our Lord during His earthly ministry. Indeed, there are times when you can almost hear our Savior through the words of James as he instructs us in the “how tos” of everyday Christian living. James does not soar to the theological heights that Paul or other New Testament writers do. No, he is much more concerned that we live the life and walk the walk of a child of God here and now.

You will note that there is a section of each lesson entitled “Focus on Us.” This section is intended to be done by each learner on his/her own. It is hoped that the daily readings will add richness and meaning to the study of the book of James. It is also hoped that the suggested Scriptures for memorization will enhance the faith journey of each learner. The questions are intended to help each learner probe deeper into their own walk with the Lord.

Furthermore, effort has been given to make this material “user friendly.” The Leader’s Guide has been furnished with additional materials and suggestions for teaching this book. Several options have been supplied for teaching this material that give flexibility and creativity to the leader.

My prayer is that for each one God will enrich your spiritual life and give you insight into being a “doer of the Word.”
