Once in a while a book comes along that projects the spirit of an era; this is one of them . . . Vibrant and expressive . . . A well-researched and well-written work. --The Philadelphia Inquirer

With the rallying cry of Black Power in 1966, a group of black activists, including Stokely Carmichael and Huey P. Newton, turned their backs on Martin Luther King's pacifism and, building on Malcolm X's legacy, pioneered a radical new approach to the fight for equality. Drawing on original archival research and more than sixty original oral histories, Peniel E. Joseph vividly invokes the way in which Black Power redefined black identity and culture and in the process redrew the landscape of American race relations. In a series of character-driven chapters, we witness the rise of Black Power groups such as the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and the Black Panthers, and with them, on both coasts of the country, a fundamental change in the way Americans understood the unfinished business of racial equality and integration.

Waiting 'Til the Midnight Hour traces the history of the Black Power movement, that storied group of men and women who would become American icons of the struggle for racial equality.

I am pleased. I like this shirt!
Color: All Black, Size: Medium
I put this shirt on right away. It's breathable, lightweight, stretchy, and well-made. I bought the black one, and the fit is perfect, even though it's polyester. I usually prefer natural fibers, but I love the design and the reduced price, so I bought one. The mock turtleneck is comfortably fitted and comfortable around the neck. The short sleeve cuffs hug the biceps nicely. There may be some negative reviews, but not from me. I just bought another one in navy blue, medium. I tried on the shirt with a sports jacket, a bomber, and three different lightweight zip-up jackets, and it goes well with all of them. I still prefer natural fibers, but I also like the Coofandy brand. I have purchased their shirts made of natural fibers as well. The quality is consistent. I ordered and received another shirt in blue. It's a different kind of knit, but fits like a glove. Soft and stretchy, sleeves fit my biceps, and the color hugs the neck close and gently. These shirts are the best!

Great mock turtleneck sweater at an even greater price!
Color: All Black, Size: X-Large
The short sleeve mock turtleneck sweater is made of a comfortable, quality material and looks good. I’m 6’3” and 240 lbs and the XL was a perfect fit. The price point is excellent and I have had great experience with other purchases from Coofandy so I would highly recommend this item.
