Introducing the new yarn from Laine x Novita, gifting us a collection of four gorgeous knits to choose from - what more could one wish for!!!

Named after the Yorkshire village where the Brontë sisters lived and wrote, Haworth is a cardigan that carries with it a sense of windswept solitude, quiet strength and poetic restraint. Like the moors that stretch beyond the parsonage walls, it is understated yet deeply textured — a garment that feels grounded in the natural world, shaped by weather and worn stories. Worked in a soft blend of wool and our favourite fluffy yarn, the fabric holds warmth and air in equal measure, creating a comforting layer that feels both modern and timeless.

Designed with everyday ease in mind, Haworth is the kind of cardigan you will reach for again and again: a reliable favourite that layers effortlessly over dresses, shirts or simple tees. The relaxed fit, textured stitch pattern and clean lines make it equally at home in quiet moments at your desk or out on blustery walks. Whether worn open or buttoned up, Haworth moves with you — adaptable, thoughtful and made to last.

Skill level: Intermediate

Haworth is a seamless raglan cardigan worked from the top down. The yoke is shaped with raglan increases worked on the WS (knit) rows. After the yoke is complete, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is worked flat to the hem. The sleeves are then completed in the round. The cardigan is finished with a double-knitted buttonband that provides a clean, structured edge.

Sizes 1 – 9 with finished chest circumference : 95 (109.5, 118.5, 128, 137) (148.5, 159.5, 170.5, 180.5)cm / 38 (43.75, 47.25, 51.25, 55) (59.25, 63.75, 68.25, 72.25)” including ca. 20cm / 8” of recommended positive ease.

We've done the maths for you, so according to your size the Haworth Yarn Kit contains all the yarn you need to make your very own cardigan, and it can be bought with or without the pattern. In addition you'll need circular needles size 4.5mm / US7 and 5.5mm / US9 in 80cm / 32” length, and preferred needles in same sizes for smaller circumference. You'll also need stitch markers, stitch holders or scrap yarn for stitches left on hold, a darning needle for grafting and weaving in your ends, and 3 buttons.

A #MustRead for cybersecurity practitioners
Format: Kindle
Rick Howard's latest book is the ultimate reference for cybersecurity practitioners, making it an essential read for anyone in the field. With his straightforward and refreshingly irreverent writing style, coupled with his profound technical knowledge, Rick has created a narrative that is easy to understand and grasp. He delves into the foundational aspect of cybersecurity, which he refers to as the cybersecurity first principle, which he then it to specific high-impact strategies. The book has eight well-written chapters providing a comprehensive overview of those strategies. Importantly, Rick then offers an up-to-date and thorough exploration of the complementary capabilities (tactical-level tools) that can be utilized to "reduce the probability of material impact due to a cyber event" - the cyber first principle. In the concluding chapter, Rick succinctly summarizes his contribution to the field, stating, "And that's it. Those are all the tools you need to design, build, and enhance a cybersecurity program based on first principle thinking." This assertion highlights the value of his book as a practical guide for designing and improving cybersecurity programs with a focus on first principles.

Absolute must read if you oversee any portion of a cyber security program!
Format: Paperback
I loved this book. The concepts and ideas presented are a great wake up call for an industry that is so focused on blinking light hardware and the next big technological thing...this book challenges the paradigm that you need to strip your security culture down to some very core ideas...then build a solid security program around your security first principle(s). Without that core idea, you're just throwing away money on tools that may not actually be addressing your root needs. Great read for anyone looking to rethink their security program, security culture, and security spend. BRAVO!

Context, Strategies and Wisdom in a single package
Format: Kindle
This was my first book I have read by this particular author. I had spent some time looking for a comphrensive approach to Cyber Security and found many other texts to be lacking. Certain aspects are well documented, but no single source that brought it all together. This is exactly what First Principles brings to the table. As a practicioner that looks for better ways to formulate the objectives of SecOps Use Cases I have found the methods presented in this book to be immensely helpful. I have also given copies aways as a gifts to students who are just entering the field as this is by far the best intro to the long history of Cyber Security that combines the best direction for the future. The historical context that the author brings through first hand experience is beyond a treasure trove. It has been said many times in cheezy ads, but honestly, if you only read one book on Cyber Security make it this one.

Every cybersecurity professional should read this book, probably twice
Format: Audiobook
This is the Phoenix Project for cybersecurity professionals. Every chapter of this book brought clarity and a new perspective from the way industry approaches aspects of cybersecurity. The book won’t be all things to everyone, nor is it perfect, but its the single most practical and effective approach to cybersecurity I’ve found. In a time where IT is excruciatingly complex and securing environments seems like an impossible task, this has been invaluable and has affected how I think about the future. Im not associated with the author in any way. Im just in a leadership role facing these challenges every day and I think this book may some day become mandatory reading in the field.
