The Cisco CFP2-100G-ER4 transceiver is a high-density, high-performance module designed for data centers, service providers, and enterprise networks requiring scalable 100 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Built around the CFP2 form factor, this transceiver delivers four 25 Gbps lanes that cumulatively provide a robust 100 Gbps link over long-reach single-mode fiber. The ER4 variant is engineered for long-haul links, capable of supporting distances up to 40 kilometers on standard duplex SMF (G.652) with LC connectors. The module uses four wavelengths multiplexed on a single fiber, enabling efficient use of fiber plants while preserving signal integrity across the link. Optimized for Cisco environments, the CFP2-100G-ER4 combines ease of deployment, advanced diagnostics, and compatibility with Cisco routing and switching platforms, making it a reliable upgrade path for modern spine-leaf fabrics, data center interconnects, and metropolitan networks. This transceiver is designed to integrate seamlessly with Cisco’s ecosystem, offering telemetry through digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM), hot-swappability for simplified maintenance, and interoperability with CFP2 MSA specifications to ensure broad asset reuse and consistent performance. With its compact footprint, precise alignment for multi-lane, four-wavelength transmission, and Cisco-backed support, the CFP2-100G-ER4 provides a future-proof foundation for scaling bandwidth in 10/40/100G networks while reducing fiber counts and power envelopes in dense data center deployments. Whether upgrading an existing fabric or building a new, scalable network, this module enables operators to maximize fiber efficiency, minimize network disruption, and achieve dependable long-distance performance across critical links. In short, the Cisco CFP2-100G-ER4 is a purpose-built, enterprise-grade transceiver that delivers high capacity, long reach, and reliable operation within Cisco infrastructures, with the telemetry and management capabilities that modern networks demand.

  • High-capacity 100GBASE-ER4 performance: This CFP2 module delivers 100 Gbps total bandwidth by aggregating four 25 Gbps lanes, enabling ultra-fast interconnections between core switches, data centers, and service provider networks. Its four-lane design is optimized for efficient traffic handling, high burst tolerance, and compatibility with Cisco 100G optical backbones, making it ideal for demanding workloads, virtualization, and cloud-scale deployments. The ER4 approach ensures scalability without sacrificing reach, giving operators a powerful option for long-distance links within a data center campus or between facilities.
  • Long reach over standard SMF (up to 40 km): Engineered for reliability over multi-kilometer runs, the module supports link lengths up to 40 kilometers on duplex single-mode fiber (G.652) terminated with LC connectors. This reach is particularly valuable for data center interconnects, metro networks, and regional links, where transmitting over significant distances without repeaters reduces cost and complexity. The combination of four wavelengths and WDM technology ensures signal integrity across the span while maintaining compatibility with common fiber infrastructure.
  • Four-wavelength WDM multiplexing/demultiplexing: The ER4 configuration utilizes four wavelengths multiplexed onto a single SMF link, enabling four independent 25 Gbps channels to carry a single 100 Gbps aggregate. This multiplexing approach minimizes the number of fiber strands required, simplifies network planning, and optimizes fiber utilization in crowded data centers. The transceiver’s design supports precise wavelength allocation and channel isolation, contributing to robust performance even in dense, multi-vendor environments.
  • Digital diagnostics and Cisco interoperability: The CFP2-100G-ER4 provides Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) for real-time visibility into optical power, temperature, bias current, and other critical parameters. This telemetry enables proactive fault detection, easier troubleshooting, and improved operational efficiency. Designed to align with CFP2 MSA specifications, the module maintains broad interoperability across Cisco switches and routers that support 100G CFP2 transceivers, ensuring a smooth integration path with existing hardware investments and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) workflows.

How to install Cisco CFP2 Module

Installing the Cisco CFP2-100G-ER4 module is a straightforward, relatively risk-free operation when performed by trained technicians. Following best practices for hot-plug hardware in data centers ensures minimal downtime and preserves equipment integrity. The steps below outline a practical installation workflow that aligns with Cisco hardware guidelines and standard optical networking practices.

  • Prepare and power down (as required): If your environment requires downtime, power down the device or verify hot-plug acceptance per your vendor’s maintenance procedures. Ensure you follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions to protect sensitive components.
  • Verify slot readiness: Inspect the CFP2 slot for damage or debris. Confirm that the chassis supports 100G CFP2 modules and that the appropriate licensing and firmware versions are in place before installation.
  • Mount the transceiver: Align the CFP2 module with the slot orientation and gently insert it until it seats securely. A proper click indicates full engagement and readiness for operation.
  • Connect fiber cabling: Attach the duplex SMF cables terminated with LC connectors to the module’s LC ports. Ensure proper polarity and cleanliness of connectors to avoid insertion loss and back reflections that could degrade link performance.
  • Power up and verify: Restore power and use the device’s management interface to verify transceiver detection. Confirm the 100G link is established, review DDM telemetry if available, and verify that the correct data rate and wavelength plan are in use.
  • Configure and test: Configure the corresponding interfaces on the switch/router, enable the 100G link, and run basic tests such as link verification, throughput checks, and, if needed, BER tests to ensure the link meets required tolerances. Monitor DDM data to preemptively identify performance deviations.

Great product! Durable, chewable, awesomeness!
Color: Grilled color, Color: Grilled color
Very well made and durable. My dog hasn't left them alone since i opened them. Hes been at it for about 45 minutes straight now! Lol. He's an avid chewer. He will chew thru and fabric or cloth toys in less then a day. But these are what he really likes because they take time to chew apart. The shapes, are great, because one he props up with his paws and chews and it seems like it's easy to grip for him. Thru are hard so if you have hard floors it can get a bit noisy when he drops them. Over all this is a great product. Safe, chewable, long lasting, fun shape looks real to him (i think lol), Me and my dog Lucky are both happy with his new toys!

Amazingly great product!
Color: Grilled color
I’m not just saying this, ok, this is not hyperbole: this is THE best nylon bone for chewing that I have ever purchased. And you get TWO of them for relatively less expensive than most chew toys give you one! I have 2 golden retrievers, and if you know goldens, you know that they are some of the most relentless and powerful chewers around. So I can’t give them almost any toy other than rubber stuff or it will be destroyed in a period of time that doesn’t make it worth it. One of them even figured out how to destroy a supposedly indestructible toy made out of kevlar! She was able to get into it through the seam, which is not kevlar ha ha. Anyway, I digress; I never even considered nylon chews because they suck! Usually. Usually my dogs in the past have lost interest with them in less than a day. I took a chance on these mainly because of the novel shapes, the fact that they give you two, and the low price. Both my goldens LOVE these! Not just for one day, but going on weeks now! I don’t know if it’s the flavor or what, but I will see them gnawing on one of them at some point every day. And they CAN’T destroy them (I knew nylon was good for that, but it was the “who cares” attitude of my previous dogs toward nylon that kept me away). Both the “ribs” and “steak” (quite clever) are a bit worn on the edges now, but they look like they will be around for years. You can’t go wrong with this product (unless for some reason your dog does not like the flavor, but the flavor seems to be what draws my dogs to them). I highly recommend this (these) as the most cost-effective chew toy I’ve ever purchased.
