The AXIS Q1686-DLE Network Camera is a purpose-built, high-precision traffic surveillance solution that combines radar technology with advanced imaging to deliver reliable vehicle speed measurement and directional tracking around the clock. Designed for busy roadways, intersections, and highway monitoring, this camera integrates 60 GHz radar with a configurable imaging system to provide accurate, real-time data that helps transportation agencies, traffic operators, and security professionals manage flow, enforce speed, and respond to incidents with confidence. Its blend of sensor fusion, robust optics, and intelligent illumination makes it possible to identify vehicles even under challenging lighting, adverse weather, or dense traffic, while minimizing false detections that can complicate enforcement or analytics. With a varifocal tele lens offering flexible framing, operators gain the ability to tailor the field of view to the geometry of the terrain—whether covering multiple lanes, critical junctions, or targeted segments—without sacrificing detail or coverage. The traffic-optimized IR illumination kit further enhances night-time visibility, enabling clear vehicle identification and robust performance during the darkest hours. In short, the AXIS Q1686-DLE is a vehicle-centered surveillance platform that scales from simple speed monitoring to sophisticated traffic analytics, making it a compelling choice for agencies seeking accuracy, reliability, and long-term return on investment.

  • 60 GHz radar for precise vehicle speed and direction detection: This high-frequency radar system operates continuously to measure speed and movement of vehicles with exceptional fidelity, providing data that complements visual imaging and improves overall accuracy in speed enforcement and traffic analytics across a variety of road configurations.
  • 24/7 operation with a minimized false alarm rate: By fusing radar data with imaging information, the Q1686-DLE minimizes false positives and negatives, helping operators trust the data for enforcement, incident detection, and traffic-management decisions even in complex traffic scenarios.
  • Varifocal tele lens with 46°-9° horizontal FOV: The adjustable focal length enables flexible framing—from wide-area corridor surveillance to tight, lane-specific views—so you can optimize coverage for lanes, intersections, or merge points without moving the camera physically.
  • Traffic-optimized IR illumination kit: Night-time performance is enhanced with lighting that is tuned for vehicle identification and license-plate readability while reducing glare and backscatter, supporting reliable operation in low-light and adverse weather conditions.
  • Rugged, purpose-built design for road environments: Engineered to withstand outdoor conditions and continuous deployment, the Q1686-DLE prioritizes longevity, low maintenance, and seamless integration with existing traffic management workflows and video management systems.

Technical Details of AXIS Q1686-DLE Network Camera

How to install AXIS Q1686-DLE Network Camera

  • Step 1 — Plan the installation: Select a mounting location that provides optimal coverage of target lanes or intersections, ensuring the radar’s sensing area has a clear line of sight and minimal obstructions. Assess environmental factors such as weather exposure, heat, and potential interference to determine the appropriate housing, cooling, and mounting hardware.
  • Step 2 — Mount and secure: Attach the camera and radar assembly to the chosen mounting point using weatherproof brackets and seals. Verify that the installation is level and that the radar’s field of view aligns with the traffic lanes you intend to monitor. Confirm that all fasteners are tightened to spec and that cable routing minimizes exposure to wear and tampering.
  • Step 3 — Network and power setup: Connect the device to your network using Power over Ethernet (PoE) to simplify deployment and ensure stable power delivery. Power on the unit and verify that the initial boot sequence completes successfully before proceeding with configuration.
  • Step 4 — Configure in the management interface: Access the camera’s management interface via your preferred network management system or Axis application. Calibrate the alignment of both radar and optical sensor if prompted, set the correct units for speed, and configure geolocation or scene presets to reflect the installation site. Enable the IR kit and adjust illumination parameters to balance visibility with glare control.
  • Step 5 — Test, calibrate, and integrate: Conduct a functional test by capturing representative traffic samples across the monitored lanes, validate radar readings against observed speeds, and adjust thresholds to balance detection sensitivity with false-alarm suppression. Finally, integrate the camera with your video management system (VMS) or traffic analytics platform, set up automated alerts, and define reporting templates for throughput, incidents, and speed enforcement.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What maximum vehicle speed can the AXIS Q1686-DLE monitor?
A: The camera is designed to track speeds up to 200 km/h (125 mph), making it suitable for highway ramps, interchanges, and high-speed corridors where rapid vehicular movement occurs.
  • Q: How does the 60 GHz radar improve surveillance accuracy?
A: The Rust-robust 60 GHz radar provides independent motion and speed data that complements visual imaging, reducing ambiguity in vehicle speed measurements and enhancing the reliability of track-and-compare analytics in dense traffic or adverse lighting.
  • Q: Can this camera operate effectively at night?
A: Yes. The traffic-optimized IR illumination kit is designed to improve night-time imaging, enabling clearer vehicle identification, even when ambient light is minimal or absent.
  • Q: Is the lens field of view adjustable?
A: The varifocal tele lens offers a horizontal FOV of 46°–9°, allowing operators to switch between wide-area coverage and narrow, lane-focused framing without physical repositioning.
  • Q: What types of environments is the AXIS Q1686-DLE suited for?
A: It is engineered for roadways, intersections, and highway segments with heavy traffic or complex geometries, delivering reliable performance in outdoor conditions thanks to a rugged design and continuous operation.
  • Q: How does the system handle false alarms?
A: The AXIS Q1686-DLE uses sensor fusion between radar and imaging data to minimize false alarms, delivering dependable speed readings and reducing erroneous detections during adverse weather or cluttered scenes.

The best

The best no show socks I have found. Stay in place very well and hold up wash after wash. I have tossed all the other brands I’ve bought over the years and stocked up on these as I was tired of digging through the drawer hoping to find a clean pair.

Love these.
Number of Items: 3, Color: White (3-pairs), Size: Medium
I have them in black and white. I use them everyday in all shoes. These are very versatile and a great quality material. They take a looong time to wear and they stay in place. Very washable and good material. They are not too thick and they do not shrink. I do air dry mine. They do not hold smells even in the summer heat.

Great feel, amazing tech, and perfect fit
Size: Large, Color: Black/Gray (6 Pairs)
I've been purchasing the white w/grey toe socks for most of my adult life. Never really understood why I'd want anything else. Saw these as an Amazon suggestion one day and figured I'd give them a shot. Oh my freaking feet have never been happier!!! I imagine that the fabrics used by UA to wick away sweat and odor are what makes these socks so comfortable, but I would be lying if I said I understood why they were so amazing. They slip on effortlessly and hug your foot throughout the day. Unlike the socks I used to purchase, these do not lose their shape after a full day of wear and exercise. They also have ample thickness to protect my feet while I'm running from any rubbing or hot spots from my shoes. I imagine this has a lot to do with the fact that they maintain their shape and do not move/slip around while wearing. I was a bit hesitant to purchase black running socks at first, but they hide right below my shoe line and are even less noticeable than my old white w/grey toe socks I used to purchase. I am not certain what "charged cotton" means, but if it means amazing feel, great features (wick away sweat; fight odor), and all for a reasonable price. I'm in. Overall, if you're looking for a nice pair of socks to wear throughout the day or while doing your workout, you would be remiss in not giving these UA socks a shot.
