IMPORTED FROM AUSTRIA!!
Texas 1979. Maybe inspired by 1970s texas punkers Nervebreakers and all their entertaining and funny songs, Roky Erickson, and 1970s raunch n rollers Black Oak Arkansas, pop songs hidden under a carpet of dirt, focusing on the silly, opening with "Rock Fever" and "Tall Girls" but "Daddy! Whatcha Doin To My Sister?" addressing something much more serious, introduced with the female-spoken intro "When your father gets too friendly and starts to probe around, you'll be a better person if you learn to put him down," indeed, the song focusing on the brother confronting his dad for abusing his 12 year old sister...it seems awkward to me sandwiched between the lovely silliness of "Rock Fever" and "Tall Girls" (kind of like when I return to some old drive-in movie and I'm heeping and hollaring having a great time when the next scene punches me in the eye with real horror...), but punk rock don't give a rat's ass, will poke you with a stick in the eardrum and then a blow to your funny bone on the same album, and it was actually important to bring horror from the shadows out to light in 1979, when society focused on strangers kidnapping children and ignored what Rokker's song addresses--predators often live in the same home as their victims. That's just the first 3 songs (but not the first songs on the free streaming). The reason I was enjoying this album in the first place was because it's all just so amateur and lo-fi. It's just so bad, and that's what made it so enjoyable. See you at Raul's! Slam-dancing with your mom!
