The Middle Atlantic Plexi/Vented Front Door is a premium solution designed to safeguard your valuable equipment while preserving superior airflow within standard 19" racks. Engineered for professional environments—from broadcast studios to data centers and advanced control rooms—this front door blends crystal-clear visibility with efficient ventilation. The combination of a plexi (acrylic) panel and a carefully perforated venting pattern ensures you can monitor gear at a glance without compromising protection from dust, accidental contact, or tampering. With a 10U rack height specification and a shallow 1.5" depth, this door is purpose-built for tight installations where space efficiency and performance matter most. Whether you’re protecting delicate servers, line conditioners, power distribution units, or audio/video equipment, this door provides a reliable, purpose-driven solution that keeps equipment accessible, secure, and aesthetically clean.

  • Plexi/Vented Front Door design: A transparent front panel made from high-quality plexiglass provides clear visibility of front-mounted equipment indicators, meters, and status lights while the vented sections promote continuous airflow to keep components cool and operating efficiently.
  • 10U rack height compatibility: Specifically suited for racks configured to accommodate 10 rack units, this door aligns with standard 19" rack rails, offering a seamless, professional look and consistent mounting.
  • Compact 19" rack footprint: Crafted for standard 19" equipment racks, this front door integrates cleanly with existing hardware and accessories, enabling quick swaps without tools or rewiring and minimizing downtime during upgrades.
  • Rigid, protective construction: The vented plexi panel provides a sturdy, tamper-resistant barrier that shields sensitive electronics from dust and accidental contact while maintaining an open, accessible front profile for maintenance checks.
  • Easy maintenance and monitoring: The clear acrylic surface makes it simple to spot warning indicators and status LEDs, helping technicians diagnose issues quickly and reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) in busy environments.

How to Install Middle Atlantic Plexi/Vented Front Door

Installing the Plexi/Vented Front Door is a straightforward process that preserves the integrity of your rack while delivering clear visibility and airflow. Follow these concise steps to ensure a secure, proper fit and optimal performance:

  1. Prepare the rack: Ensure the rack frame is clean and empty from the front to create a stable installation surface for the door. Have the included mounting hardware ready for use.
  2. Align with rails: Position the door so that the Plexi panel faces outward and the vented sections align with the front opening. Check that the door’s height matches the 10U allocation and that it can hinge or lock as required by your rack configuration.
  3. Attach with hardware: Use the standard screws or bolts supplied by Middle Atlantic or your rack manufacturer to secure the door to the rack rails. Hand-tighten first to ensure proper alignment, then snug securely without over-tightening.
  4. Verify clearance and operation: Open and close the door several times to confirm smooth operation and ensure that cables do not obstruct the hinge or venting areas. Confirm there is adequate airflow paths for cooling.
  5. Final checks: Confirm that the door is level and securely mounted. Reconnect any front-facing cables or devices if they were temporarily removed, and perform a quick power-on check to ensure indicators remain visible through the Plexi panel.

Frequently asked questions

What is the primary purpose of the Plexi/Vented Front Door?

The Plexi/Vented Front Door protects equipment from dust, debris, and accidental contact while maintaining clear visibility of front-panel indicators. The vented design supports continuous airflow, helping equipment stay cool and operate reliably in dense rack environments.

Will this door fit all standard 19" racks?

Yes. It is designed for standard 19" racks and aligns with 10U rack-height configurations, making it compatible with a wide range of rack enclosures used in data centers, server rooms, and production facilities.

What materials are used in this door?

The door employs a high-quality plexiglass (acrylic) front panel with vented sections. This combination provides transparency for monitoring while allowing air to pass through to cooling vents and fans.

How does a plexi front door impact maintenance and monitoring?

The clear acrylic panel lets technicians monitor status indicators and front-panel displays without opening the door. This reduces door openings, minimizes disruption, and helps maintain consistent environmental conditions within the rack.

How should I clean and maintain the door?

Clean the Plexi/Vented Front Door using a soft cloth and mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid ammonia-based or harsh solvents that could degrade the plexiglass. Regular dusting and gentle cleaning help preserve clarity and visibility over time.

Always order big!
I needed a minimum of 2 AWG wire to create interconnects between batteries in a large bank. If you note, these say 1/0 Gauge, not AWG. What is 1/0 Gauge? Who knows, it's fake. Meaningless, because it is not standardized so you have no clue what you are getting. What did I get for my 1/0 Gauge wire? Something that was in between 1 and 2 AWG (closer to 1). This was perfect for my needs because I knew darn well how big to order when they say gauge instead of AWG. As a rule of thumb: If they as gauge, order 3 - 4 sizes larger than you need in AWG. This will always net you larger wire than you need but I have never had it net me wire smaller than I needed. At the price I got it for during prime days, it was a steal for 2 AWG wire, so I win! I hope you found this helpful!

Heavy duty and has lasted three years so far
I have had this relay installed in the engine bay of my Lexus RX 300, functioning to link the front battery to the additional battery in the trunk whenever the ignition is on. The relay has worked reliably for about three years now with no complaints besides one minor comment, be careful when threading down the nut on the Low voltage side. It is prone to stripping

Performed extremely well. No buzzzing or poor connection. Extremely well built and has been working issue free for over 6 months! Instalation can be a bit difficult due to size and weight. Not really a problem.

Seems to be ok for the money
We use it to power a 2000w inverter for the refrigerator and microwave on our boat where sometimes it will stay on continuously throughout the day and it hasn't let us down. As others have said, the terminals are awful close together but for the money, it's worth it.
