　　本選集為法蘭茲．卡夫卡由一九一六年起直到溘然長逝的八年間，寫於筆記本及散稿的未發表作品。一九一六年十一月起，卡夫卡逐漸不再以慣用的大冊四開本筆記來書寫日記與小說，改以體積較小、移動方便的八開藍色筆記本寫作。一九一七年九月，卡夫卡確診肺結核，在曲勞休養期間寫下一〇九條編號、思索生命意涵的〈箴言錄〉。這些作品在卡夫卡逝世後，由摯友馬克斯．布洛德整理出版，主題圍繞其一貫書寫的疏離個人與世界的關係。

　　1883年出生於布拉格，下有三個妹妹，經商的父親專制暴躁，令卡夫卡深感懼怕。這份恐懼後來深深影響了他的性格與創作。
 
　　大學修習法律，畢業後進入勞工保險局任職。受限於工作，卡夫卡幾乎只能利用深夜寫作，長期的精神疲憊與創作時間不足，使他極少滿意自己的作品，往往還未完成就被擱下，更不願意發表。
 
　　婚姻則是終身困擾卡夫卡的另一個問題，他將結婚視為逃離家庭的手段，但又害怕婚姻生活會破壞寫作所需要的孤獨狀態，他曾三度訂婚又取消婚約，一生為此糾結不已。
 
　　卡夫卡生前沒沒無聞，僅出版了幾本短篇集。1924年，卡夫卡因肺結核逝世，留下未完成的三部長篇小說、多篇短篇作品，以及大量日記和筆記。他在遺囑中交代好友布羅德將這些遺稿全部焚燬，所幸布羅德並未遵從，反而將其整理出版。不到十年，卡夫卡已經躋身20世紀最偉大作家之列，被譽為「現代人精神困境最完美的闡釋者」，卡繆、馬奎斯、波赫士、村上春樹、石黑一雄等無數作家皆深受其影響。

What did I notice about these shoes as a Cole Haan junkie? I was looking for some "cheapies" that were somewhat close to Haan's comfort. Tried several and these are by far the closest thing! So comfortable! These shoes fit according to size- and it was sad when I had to take out the insoles that came with these for my arch support ones- the insoles that came with the Bruno's are amazing. They are stylish and seem well built but I've only been wearing them for a couple of weeks. They get 4 stars because of a few things but overall a GREAT value for money! "Downsides" include fact that they breathe as well as we do underwater- not well at all! If you struggle with foot sweat- I'd look elsewhere. Also- the soles are super comfy but I get rocks, debris, and other things stuck in the deep grooves almost every time I walk off sidewalk. Just something to be ready to pick out regularly. Overall though- strong recommendation! Hopefully they don't rip out on me in a month! Will update if they do! :)
