Precision Load Control for Lithium Battery Protection

The Victron Cyrix-Li-load 24/48V-120A is a specialised intelligent relay engineered to safeguard LiFePO4 batteries by automatically disconnecting loads when critical thresholds are reached. Designed to integrate seamlessly with the VE.Bus BMS, it provides a reliable second line of defence against cell under-voltage, over-voltage, and over-temperature conditions, ensuring your battery investment remains protected in demanding 24V and 48V DC systems.

Unlike generic relays, the Cyrix-Li-load responds directly to BMS control signals, eliminating the risk of deep discharge damage that can permanently reduce lithium battery capacity. Its low current consumption of less than 4 mA when open minimises parasitic drain, a critical advantage for off-grid and mobile installations where every watt-hour counts.

How the Cyrix-Li-load Enhances System Reliability

In a typical lithium battery setup, the VE.Bus BMS monitors individual cell voltages and temperatures. When it detects an imminent under-voltage event, it signals the Cyrix-Li-load to disengage the load circuit. This immediate response prevents cells from dropping below safe voltage levels, a common failure point in poorly managed systems. After disconnection, the battery voltage often recovers slightly, and the Cyrix will attempt to re-engage after 30 seconds. If the underlying issue persists, it will lock out after three attempts until a proper charge cycle restores voltage above 13 V (26 V or 52 V for 24V/48V systems) for at least 30 seconds.

This intelligent re-engagement logic avoids nuisance cycling while ensuring loads are only reconnected when the battery is genuinely ready. For installers, this means fewer callbacks and greater confidence in system uptime.

Key Features

  • BMS-Controlled Load Disconnect: Directly interfaces with Victron VE.Bus BMS for automated protection against cell under-voltage, over-voltage, and over-temperature.
  • High Continuous Current Rating: Handles 120 A at 24 V and 40 A at 48 V, suitable for most auxiliary loads in mobile and off-grid applications.
  • Ultra-Low Standby Consumption: Draws less than 4 mA when open, preserving battery charge during storage or idle periods.
  • Robust Enclosure: IP54-rated housing protects against dust and water splashes, with compact dimensions of 46 x 46 x 80 mm for easy installation in tight spaces.
  • Integrated Transient Suppression: Built-in voltage spike protection safeguards connected equipment during sudden disconnections.
  • Clear Status Indication: Multicolour LED provides at-a-glance operational state, simplifying diagnostics.

Installation and Integration

The Cyrix-Li-load features M8 (approx. 5/16") stud terminals that accept heavy-duty lugs, ensuring secure, low-resistance connections for high-current wiring. Its side mounting flanges allow straightforward attachment to flat surfaces, while the integrated wiring diagram on the unit aids correct setup. The control interface connects directly to the BMS, requiring no additional programming or complex configuration.

For systems where the VE.Bus BMS cannot directly control all loads or chargers, the Cyrix-Li-load acts as an essential intermediary, extending protection to devices that lack native BMS communication. This is particularly valuable in retrofits or mixed-brand installations where compatibility is a concern.

Applications

This relay is ideally suited for:

  • Marine and RV house battery systems requiring automatic load shedding to prevent deep discharge.
  • Off-grid solar installations where lithium batteries power inverters, lighting, or DC appliances.
  • Industrial backup power systems demanding fail-safe battery protection.
  • Any 24V or 48V LiFePO4 setup using a Victron VE.Bus BMS for centralised management.

By isolating loads during fault conditions, the Cyrix-Li-load helps maintain battery health and extends cycle life, reducing total cost of ownership over time.

Why Choose the Victron Cyrix-Li-load?

Compared to standard voltage-sensing relays, the Cyrix-Li-load offers precise, BMS-driven control that reacts to cell-level conditions rather than aggregate battery voltage. This granularity is critical for lithium chemistries, where a single weak cell can trigger a cascade failure if not addressed promptly. The relay's fast disengagement and intelligent re-connection logic minimise downtime while maximising safety.

With a weight of just 0.11 kg, it adds negligible mass to mobile installations, and its IP54 rating ensures reliable operation in engine rooms, battery compartments, and outdoor enclosures.

Equip your lithium battery system with the Victron Cyrix-Li-load 24/48V-120A for dependable, automated load protection. Order today to enhance the safety and longevity of your energy storage investment.

Maestro House Mini Coffee Scale
I have begun to drink tea, pu’erh tea to be specific. I have several varieties and I have had a problem with getting consistent results. The varieties can be very different in size depending on when the leaves are harvested (leaves harvested in spring are much smaller). So the easiest way to get consistent results is by weight. This scale is very easy to use with a ceramic tea scoop, set the tea scoop on the scale, zero it out and add tea leaves. This has made my results much better, without the wild swings in strength I had been getting before trying to eyeball even measures. This scale gives me accurate measurements to one tenth of a gram.

Mostly great, except one little annoyance
Color: Black&Silver, Color: Black&Silver
Pros- lightweight, small, very accurate, easy to clean, timer included. Cons- I use this to brew espresso on my Breville Touch and to get an accurate reading, you have to place something flat (structured) under the scale. Otherwise the reading just jumps all over the place. I know lot of espresso machines have the same base, so this might be an issue for some! This is my reason for 4/5 stars. It’s an easy fix, it’s just kind of annoying. Value for the price seems to be on point. It’s easy to clean. It has a timer as well as scale (nice for espresso). Buttons work the first time you push them. That’s it that’s all

TLDR: Buy it. It works well, it has impressive and useful features, it looks great, it’s thin/low-profile, and it’s a great price. Detailed review: I’m very happy with this scale, and it has certainly upped my espresso game by leaps and bounds. I’m able to weigh my beans very precisely down to a tenth of a gram (roughly the weight of a single bean), so my dosing is on point. Also, it fits beneath the portafilter with room to spare for my cup, so I can weigh my shots and accurately measure my input/output ratio. And automatic mode is magic! When the espresso hits the cup, the timer starts running, so I can measure flow rate along with everything else! Overall, super easy to use and very necessary for the at-home barista. One caveat: It acted weird on the 2nd or 3rd day, and I thought I was going to have to return it. The weight would slowly creep up even though I wasn’t adding any coffee. I dusted it off, made sure it was dry, set it on a more stable surface… I still don’t know what the matter was, but it stopped freaking out and it hasn’t really given me any trouble since. Also, I should mention that the automatic function doesn’t always work 100% perfectly; it works, and usually works quite well, but depending on the flow rate, you might get some drops dribbling into the cup and the timer not detect it right away. (I think the timer must be activated according to some sort of algorithm that looks for a certain increase in a certain amount of time, so a slower initial drip rate might not trigger it at first.) Also weirdly, it seems like about half of the time when the weight stops increasing (i.e., espresso stops flowing) , the timer pauses (as I think it’s supposed to do), but other times, the timer keeps running until you manually stop it. I don’t know… It’s a weird glitch, I guess, but it doesn’t really make any difference. The weight is accurate, and that’s the primary thing to keep an eye on. So, is it perfect? No, I guess not. But, it works extremely well and functions perfectly for my purposes. In fact, it’s a lot nicer and fancier than I expected – plus, it’s more affordable and more streamlined than its obvious rival the Acacia.

Excellent and super accurate
Color: Black, Color: Black
I had a precision oxo which was more expensive than this one but not great though, it would register .4 grams suddenly and not sensitive to the 1-2 bean increments. I bought this one for espresso specifically and man it is fantastic so accurate, super responsive, well built, size is great if you want to weigh your shot under your portafilter. I have a fellow series 1 and it’s amazing working with it. Overall highly recommend and for the price it’s amazing great value! Not sure why would I buy a bookoo for $130 or a fellow scale for $200. This one works great for $40

Just a tiny, accurate scale
Color: Black
Works flawlessly after I calibrated it compared to my other. Out of the box it was (very) off. Now it's within .1 of a gram. It's far more responsive than I expected. It's perfect for espresso and it's tiny so it fits on the smallest drip trays.
