Suspended from a pinchbeck loop, the fob is formed in a classic plinth design and created from richly coloured amethyst hued paste/glass. The stone glows with deep purple tones, closely imitating the beauty and richness of natural amethyst.

To the base sits an intaglio engraved with the initial 'H'. Designed originally as a functional seal, the intaglio would once have been pressed into hot wax to secure letters and important documents, serving as a personal signature.. Alongside this practical purpose, fobs such as this were treasured decorative accessories, worn proudly upon watch chains or ribbons.

The elegant proportions and saturated colouring give the piece a wonderfully refined feel, while the soft wear acquired over centuries adds to its unmistakable antique character.
