Ter viering van het dertigjarig jubileum van hun baanbrekende debuutalbum, kondigt de legendarische alternatieve rockband Placebo Placebo RE:CREATED aan. Deze krachtige herwerking van de plaat waarmee ze in 1996 de wereld veroverden, verschijnt op 19 juni 2026 via Elevator Lady Ltd/AWAL.

Placebo verscheen oorspronkelijk op het hoogtepunt van de Britpop, maar vormde een schril contrast met de toenmalige tijdgeest. Waar veel Britse gitaarmuziek destijds leunde op nostalgie en nationale identiteit, was het debuut van Placebo provocerend en confronterend. Thema's als seksualiteit, androgynie, verslaving en vervreemding werden behandeld met een eerlijkheid die zelden in de mainstream rock te horen was. Hiermee vestigde de band zich direct als een van de meest kenmerkende stemmen van hun generatie.

Dertig jaar later werpt de band met Placebo RE:CREATED een frisse blik op dit cruciale album. De plaat bevat bewerkte en verrijkte versies van alle tien de originele tracks, plus twee bonustracks. Het vangt de evolutie die de nummers door decennia aan live-optredens hebben doorgemaakt, zonder de rauwe geest van het origineel te verliezen. Onder de nummers bevinden zich de iconische singles "Nancy Boy" en "36 Degrees". Deze nieuwe opnames versterken de urgentie van de originelen, terwijl ze de groei en ervaring van de band weerspiegelen.

De twee extra bonustracks, "Drowning By Numbers" en "H.K. Farewell", zijn bijgevoegd op een verborgen witte 7-inch vinyl.

Robert Monroe's Second Book on OBEs

In his second book, Robert Monroe continues to describe his personal experiences with Out-Of-Body travel. By the time he wrote this book, Mr. Monroe had traveled out-of-body so often that he is able to offer almost a "map" of the astral world and it's various levels and inhabitants. Mr. Monroe describes his fascinating encounters with a number of nonphysical beings, human and otherwise. He does not present himself as a religious person, but rather as a deeply curious individual in search of answers to questions as old as time. He attempts to make sense of what happens to us after we die and equally important, why we are here in the first place. The answers to these questions turn out to be complex and anyone looking for a simple explanation based on their own religious beliefs or upbringing may be disappointed, if not disturbed. Also, by this time, he had established much of his research techniques using hemi-sync, which he describes in some detail in the book. This book is incredibly interesting and enlightening. My only complaint with the book is that Monroe often does not offer enough explanation or detail and left me with many unanswered questions. Each of Monroe's books is riveting on its own terms. However, I found that by reading the three books in order I was better able to follow Monroe's evolving understanding of the "other side".

I wish I could have met this man. I began having OBE’s about 8 years before I read the journeys trilogy. When he talked about the out of body simulations my head nearly popped off. I’ve had a few of those and never found them described in detail anywhere else. This is the greatest book and most profound trilogy on personal spiritual exploration and out of body travel ever written. Period. Such a gem and so incredible to be experienced outside the traditional contexts of yoga and meditation. A true original work. Thank you Bob.
