De CTIP is een conisch gevormde filtertip van aluminium, die gevuld is met actief koolstof. In feite is dit een micro-koolstoffilter voor de joint.

Actieve koolstof  is goed in het opnemen van schadelijke deeltjes uit de lucht of uit vloeistof. Actief koolstof dan ook niet alleen in luchtfilter-systemen maar bijvoorbeeld ook in waterfilters om drinkwater te maken. Actieve koolstoffilters hebben een merkbaar verschil op de smaakbeleving.
