De auteur van de cockailbijbel is Tess Posthumus. Al tijdens haar studie werd Tess Posthumus (1988) stapelverliefd op de wondere wereld van het mixen. Vanaf 2009 werkte ze bij high-end cocktailbar Door 74 in Amsterdam en eind 2017 opende ze haar eigen cocktailbar in de hoofdstad: Flying Dutchmen. Ze mag zichzelf de beste bartender van Nederland noemen, werd in 2015 benoemd tot World's Best Female Bartender en behaalde in 2018 de top 4 World's Best Bartender.
