Afkomstig uit een familie met Franse en Italiaanse banden, groeide Issa Niemeijer-Brown op in een traditie van thuisbakken en waardering voor kwaliteit en eenvoud. Hij koos voor het bakkersvak nadat hij eerst cum laude afstudeerde als socioloog aan de UvA. Na een jarenlange leerschool bij vooraanstaande bakkerijen in Nederland, Frankrijk en Italië richtte Issa Niemeijer- Brown – aanvankelijk samen met zijn broer – in 2008 een ambachtelijke Franse bakkerij op in hartje Amsterdam, de Gebroeders Niemeijer. Inmiddels is zijn bakkerij ook internationaal vermaard om de croissants, patisserie en brood.
