In Systeem 5 verdelen de gekruiste teugels de druk gelijkmatig over de neus, de nek en het hele hoofd van het paard. Wanneer een teugel wordt gebruikt, wordt er eerst druk uitgeoefend op de tegenoverliggende zijde van de onderwang, waardoor het paard reageert met een overeenkomstige draai.
