Lucky Number, the third album from Memphis trio Optic Sink, finds the band both refining and expanding their hypnotic mix of post-punk and dance music, resulting in a sharp and moving exploration of surfaces, shadows, and self-delusion.

Natalie Hoffmann (NOTS) has come into her full power as a lyricist. Her work on earlier records (see “Modelesque” and “Glass Blocks”) shows her talent for exploring the hidden shallows of modern life, but here the funhouse mirrors are balanced by painful longing and drops of truth
that leak through the cracks. The music reflects this—under Bauermeister’s driving grooves and the songs’ tight arrangements lurk hidden complexities, thanks in part to Keith Cooper’s exceptional, angular work on guitar and bass.

“Unreachable / untouchable space / glass tower / a fragile face / when you’re here / where do you go?” Hoffmann sings over the sinister, nocturnal funk of “Construction.” Few bands can match the hard beauty of Depeche Mode, New Order, and A Certain Ratio—Optic Sink
manages to do more than that, adding their own sad, cutting wisdom.

Produced and recorded by Caufield Schnug of Sweeping Promises, Lucky Number is out Fall 2025 on Feel It Records.

Special thanks to Greg Cartwright

Memphis synth punk without the trash-stomp garage-rock abandonment many have come to associate with that Tennessee town, Optic Sink cold and calculated as an Akron robot typing messages on an electric teletype, cracking a Moroder power-line like a Morricone bullwhip, but still analog warm and organic as skin on a knuckle, a brass-knuckle sandwich electricity into your ear, twisting up the knob on the space heater to warm up the vacuum tubes and cold space suits hanging in the back of the garage, Natalie Hoffmann (Nots) vocals, guitars, art w/  Ben Bauermeister (Magic Kids) drums, and Keith Cooper (Jack Oblivian and the Sheiks, I assume), bass.  Loads of synth electricity filling the sounds, like icicles on slate rooftops, strong and fragile, sharp and melting, dripping mineral water on fluorescent lamps and power circuits, Hoffman's guitar and Cooper's bass helping pulsate the rhythms into your ears, exotica percussion and electro funk mixed with bits of early mid-60s secret agent elbowing its way into the sound, shards of spaceage rock piercing into the skin, all the sounds wound up tight and the band working together wonderfully, twisting rhythms into your eardrums like wires wrapping around glass power pole insulators ... surrender and let Optic Sink knot their rhythms around your ankles and up and down your Frankenstein spine, let go of the railing and bop your noggin like the heads of the Peanuts dancing away the holidays...become a puppet riding on the pulse and electricity of Optic Sink. -- winch

Expanding on the magnetic, minimalist post-punk frontier first chartered on their  Goner debut, Optic Sink return with their second album, 'Glass Blocks'. Hot on the heels of their recent EP on Spacecase Records, the Memphis trio of Natalie Hoffmann, Ben Bauermeister, and Keith Cooper ventured out to Lawrence, Kansas to record at the home studio of Caufield Schnug (Sweeping Promises). The resulting seven originals and a rendition of LiLiPUT's "A Silver Key Can Open An Iron Lock, Somewhere" define Optic Sink and their remarkable style with a clarity and power seldom realized in a studio setting. Hoffmann and Bauermeister command the high end of the mix with a gamut of perfectly dialed synth and percussive tones while Cooper's bass serves as rhythmic anchor. There's far more to dive into, whether it's the cold, driving beat of "Modelesque" or the minimal, percussive brilliance heard on "Glass Blocks". Perhaps the best part of the formula is the sheer amount of natural energy that gleams through the mix. Like a warm refraction of musical chemistry and originality, Optic Sink have struck gold with 'Glass Blocks'.

Produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Caufield Schnug in Lawrence, KS

Transformative
Format: Paperback
I rarely write reviews, but this book truly deserves it. From the moment I started reading, I realized this was not just another edition of scripture—it felt like stepping into a deeper, more complete spiritual library. The inclusion of texts like Enoch and Jubilees adds layers of meaning that are often missing from more familiar versions. I found myself pausing often to reflect because the content is so rich and thought-provoking. The large print is an absolute blessing. I spend a lot of time reading each day, and this format has significantly reduced eye strain. It allows me to fully immerse myself without discomfort, which is something I didn’t realize I needed until I experienced it. What I appreciate most is how this book bridges curiosity and faith. It invites you to explore, question, and learn while still feeling grounded. Whether you’re a long-time student of scripture or just beginning your journey, this edition offers something meaningful. It has quickly become one of the most important books in my personal library.

Love these for my classroom!
Posters go great with my book! I use them as a visual as my class works through each of the love languages lessons. Order arrived on time. Update: I've used these posters for years now and they are great. I recommend laminating them so you can keep reusing them over the years. Two thumbs up!

Will help you to understand God's love and grace and the work of the holy spirit
This is a really great study bible especially if you are looking for a first time study bible it has lots of pages and is kind of heavy I used to be KJV only but have come to love the NKJV because its almost exactly like the KJV except it takes out the way they talked when KJV was releasedit doesnt include thee thou and words like sayeth instead has a lot of word you and better to understand. It is filled with God's love and grace and will help you to understand God's love and grace and also to study the bible. I got out of living a fear based relationship with God and living by works and having religious perfectionism this study bible has helped to reinforce the work of God's love and will help you if you read the bible and feel condemned or are struggling to understand. It's got great notes a big section rather than few which i didnt like that many study bibles dont have enough notes this has extra parts to help you to understand and also included prayers and has a good outline of yhe original text that is very well to read rather than making you feel overwhelmed. If you are looking for your first time study bible or are considering buying this I would reccomend it, don't be thrown off by the title of the study bible. Godbless.

I can't put this bible down!
What a perfect size. The font is totally readable and enhances the experience (way to go 2K/Denmark). The layout is an invitation to read: simple bible text with little to no distractions. References on the sides of the page are a great idea. All the references you might desire are there but they're out of the way - they don't interfere with your ability to pay attention to the bible text. The slightly cream toned white paper is sublime: wonderfully opaque and easy to page turn. The line matched text solves ghosting issues you've doubtlessly hated in previous bibles. I LOVE the red text (not words of Christ in red, this is a black letter edition) - it is the perfect artistic accent and it's functional as well. The red under gold art gilt page edging is so beautiful. It's a joy to open this bible up to see that red tone appear - a red tone matched to the red text (wow!). And even the three double sided silk ribbons (two black, one red) match the overall design of the bible. The goatskin is ... amazing ... this is my first goatskin bible and I'll not go back to any other type of leather again. It is nicely floppy on the first day. The bible feels like it is fully broken in on the first day you open it. The leather has a nice (naturally) pebbly texture but also feels somewhat smooth and is edge sewn for years of use. The edge gilt on the inside of the cover is beautifully done and perfectly frames the text block when the bible lies open - which it does flawlessly. The spine of the bible lacks raised dividers instead having printed dividers. They do the job nicely and the dual thin gold lines at each location is a very nice artistic touch adding to the overall presentation of the finished product. Simple text on the spine tastefully complete the overall design: HOLY BIBLE ... New King James Version ... Thomas Nelson. Nothing else is needed. Things that are somewhat unimportant to me but should be mentioned in case these matter to you: the bible maps are nicely done and the sizable concordance is impressive (albeit the font is a bit small). Note I'm in my 60's now and I've noticed many of my old bibles (old, dear friends) seem to have shrinking text recently. Ah, 60's ... oh joy. That is what drove me to seek out bibles with the 2K/Denmark fonts. This has been such a delightful surprise. The bible is a complete invitation to read. I read it daily and wish I had more time to devote to it. This is, to date, the best bible I've ever owned at any price point. I gladly give this bible my highest recommendation.
